Getting ready for the school year!

Summer time at The Coliseum is without a doubt no less busy than the school year… the only difference is instead of seeing the faces of UWG students, we have the awesome opportunity to see the faces of many of the local students attending summer camps.  We have seen the Boys and Girls Club of Carrollton on the arena floor during UWG Men’s basketball shooting camp, local ballers attending Coach Cooney’s  Basketball Day Camp, and will be seeing many local high school football teams during July as they attend FCA’s 7-on-7 summer camp.

Also, next month, The Coliseum and UWG will be making some big changes to The Coliseum.  Stay tuned for more information about some major upgrades that you will be able to check out at the beginning of the semester!

Until then… GO West and Go Wolves!!!

Go West, Go Wolves: Preview Day!

pday01262013

Welcome West!

The Coliseum, and UWG as a whole, is excited to host our future Wolves for Preview Day this Sunday!  Give us a shout out on Twitter (@UWG_TheColiseum), Instagram (uwgcoliseum), and check in on Facebook (The UWG Coliseum) if you are in the building on Sunday!  Let us know how we canhelp, there will be plenty of people in the building to assist you with any of your needs!  Remember, Go West and Go Wolves!

What this week means!

Coach Cooney said it all at the Coaches Luncheon at American Pie: it is good for the Wolves to be back home!  After traveling almost 1,200 miles in one week (check out the map below) the Wolves finally get a few days to “relax” at home….. So much for relaxing.  Next up on the schedule is Valdosta State and West Florida.

No matter the record of either team, the VSU vs UWG game is always exciting!  This year, the Valdosta men are 9-3 while we are 10-5, adding to the excitement equation.

However, the Wolves must save some energy for (3-10) UWF as they come to The Coliseum on Saturday.

Come support your wolves as they end this short losing skid and continue on with the winning ways!

What is it about Valdosta?

12

For years it seems that no matter the season, no matter the record, no matter the players on the court…. the game against Valdosta State seems to incite some sort of excitement across the campus of UWG.  Just look at attendance at the basketball games for the past few years when playing Valdosta:

2009-2010: 4873

2010-2011: 3407

2011-2012: 5041

2012-2013: 5614 (Gulf South Record)

What is it about the rivalry that adds over 2,000 fans over the season average?  What makes the games so intense and hard fought?

The Wolves take on the Blazes next Thursday, January 16th at The Coliseum.  Come set another Gulf South record by packing out The Coliseum and supporting your West Georgia Wolves by Painting it Blue!
